the problems raised by the rollback of the ISP privacy rules are extremely difficult to counter. VPNs suck as a solution.

honestly would anyone even be mad if we could actually jail a corporation
-
WELL.. if "corporations are people" and "the death penalty exists in certain states" .. kill a corporation?

The assets would be dispersed the same as a person who dies "intestate". No next of kin = they go to the state.

the bill sponsors kept saying there was a law; that the FTC could regulate under § 5... *nararrator's voice* They could not.

Lots of things could be solved by better laws rather than better tech, and yet people raise up their hands and say impossible.
-
More tech --> More layers --> More chances for loopholes, is how I try to simplify and talk about privacy.

if I'm reading things that are correct they at least still have to provide an opt-out? which is crappy but sliver of hope?

are there any ISPs pledging to not sell our data? Let's sign up with them.
-
depending on if they're available where you live, http://sonic.net is one
-
Hey
@RCNconnects! I left@comcast recently to join your network. Will you promise not to resell my browsing data? cc:@aditi@sarahjeong -
We understand how important privacy is and are committed to protecting it. Our policy can be found on http://rcn.com -GS
-
So you will sell my browser logs?
@RCNconnects "Data is used by RCN and 3rd parties... for 3d party marketing and advertising purposes" -
ISPs figure if they can’t deliver great service to monetize the relationship, they’ll just sell your data. Customer-obsession=hard
-
The ISP who takes a user-first stance here is going to win a lot of subscribers!
-
I have my fingers crossed for one to do just that. I don’t plan on holding my breath though.
