contrary to paranoid tweets going around, using facebook to publicize marches is perfectly finehttps://twitter.com/mashable/status/828790859239940096 …

actually, that's not the ~finally~ part. if you're a nice, respectable, normcore protester with a pink hat who accepts these FB invitations
-
you can loudly object to targeted arrests, publicly post about it, pressure FB to review its data retention policies, and seek police reform
-
because yeah. it's not cool that the cops are trawling through your pink pussy hat group trying to find info on people who attend your march
-
welcome to the first amendment in the 21st century ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

bank account number, home address, work address, IP address are "limited info"? Wow. Sounds like a lot to me.
-
which of all of those do you think FB actually has? what do you think people are actually worried about? (spoiler: FB messages)
-
Also, some large corporations scan social media to basically spy on their employees and could fire them if cetmrtain info found
-
what are you even talking about. I'm talking about a subpoena for parties that have already been arrested.
-
Extensive data on FB users is readily available to anyone with the resources to obtain it. I answered your question to me.
-
this is a discussion about a particular subpoena.
-
read up on everything i've written about digital surveillance via social media and then @ me. until then, bye

some folks are worried re: IP addresses -- if necessary, would it make sense to fb via VPN (?)

based on my experience, FB pushes back on a lot of these requests & it's not uncommon to comply w/ only part of a request.
