The only way I can make sense of Twitter's awful record on harassment is that beefing up enforcement is $$$ enough to affect quarterlies

-
Although possibly no one at the top at Twitter *actually* has a 5 or 10 year vision because lmao do any of us, for Twitter?
-
I wonder if the apparently prohibitive cost of enforcement means there's more harassment on Twitter than other services
-
Or if Twitter's particular policy approach is more expensive?
-
Or if services are only viable if they make enough money to afford enforcement. So Facebook+Insta are viable, Twitter is not.
-
Instagram's big celeb harassment story this week was that they started removing snake emojis from Taylor's page

-
Twitter's is that Leslie Jones left after a terrifying campaign that included some dude sending her a pic of her face with semen on it
-
I feel like that juxtaposition encapsulates the general character of these services
-
Facebook/Instagram: "huh maybe that kind of filtering goes a little too far" Twitter: "what the fuck are you doing what the fuck are you doi
-
-
One more thing, people keep saying Twitter leaves harassment alone because they need engagement + user numbers
-
So why did they start aggressively taking down novelty accounts, joke copiers, and so forth?
