I continue to find the white liberal focus on guns as the root of evil, without reference to America's deeply ingrained racism, troubling
-
-
Taking guns out of the hands of civilians and keeping them in the hands of the police is only comforting for a specific segment of society
-
Finally, I have to wonder, with all this big talk of repealing a constitutional amendment and getting rid of millions of weapons
-
--In reaction to the unacceptable rate at which people are dying--
-
If we're talking big sweeping bans on shit that kills people, why don't we ever ever ever ever talk about banning the police?
-
This is not a facetious question.
-
It is also very hard to imagine America without guns. The logistics are extremely thorny. We are not Europe. We are not Australia.
-
Why is gun control posited as ~just common sense~ but prison abolition or disarming the police is idealistic madness?

have you read http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2646956 … ? it's a good comparison of enforcement of possessory gun laws vs that of drug laws
-
(and explains how pretty much every criticism of the war on drugs also applies to how gun law is enforced in US)
