Also, now that I think about it, maybe code isn't THAT different from literature. I've always scoffed at that but heck I write nonfiction

Much of the time its primary purpose is functional I do make creative choices in my work, and there's an aesthetic component

But to certain components, even if they have aesthetic value, they kind of have to be used to make a story comprehendable

Not just the bare facts of a story, but a certain way the bare facts are expressed: it's why sometimes heds across outlets look so similar
