@jg_networks I don't want to conjecture on the internal lives of people who are acting abusively, but it's a common tactic -

@sarahjeong my confusion is partly that backintheday a lot was made of fact that dox are often obtained in ostensibly technically-legal ways -
@mumbly_joe yeah, I think the rise of information/data brokers has muddied the waters there -
@mumbly_joe it's why I didn't including anything about the actual obtaining in how I defined it. Frankly lots legal things should be illegal -
@sarahjeong what's also weird is a lot of abusers you allude to have even tried inverting it to claim it's not dox if not obtained illegally -
