I worry about the "Prosecutors could get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich" formulation. I know I've engaged in that kind of talk,
but the more I think about it, juries don't lack agency. Jurors are adults. If juries go along with prosecutors, they chose to.

Grand juries are supposed to be a check on prosecutorial power, juries are supposed to be a democratic check on the legal system.

And what if they're working as intended? What if our democracy is so racist it does not desire justice?

@sarahjeong from an outsider's perspective, it looks like we're socialized to believe juries are "bound by the law" and have no agency tho -
@sarahjeong when in fact it's the other way around. If a jury thinks a cop has murdered, they can indict, whatever state law says.
