You can't believe it was rape because the rapist doesn't seem like a bad guy, you can't believe it was rape because the rapists seem TOO bad
The questioning of the UVA rape story is sad. If it's not as horrific as that, "Are you sure you didn't enjoy it?" If it is, it's made-up.

Obviously I don't have a magic way to know "the truth." No one does, only the people who were there know.

But I don't think the UVA story plays neatly into preconceptions of what we think is the case. Rape is never believable.
