Basically I point this out because not everyone getting charged under this law is going to be a scummy abusive ex-husband

Elonis is at heart a domestic violence case but the issue in front of SCOTUS extends to everyone and all kinds of speech

It's also good to note that Elonis was only charged after he threatened a (female) FBI agent.

In a time when a lot of people online are (imo, understandably) furious with cops, an outcome in Elonis restrictive of speech isn't good
