Like... surely it has? Maybe to a man of color or a queer man or...? I can't think an incident though. Like a giant orchestrated push.

Even non-coordinated mob incidents that we think of as "Internet Ruins Person's Life"—like Justine Sacco—I can only think of women
-
Even my favorite early Angry Internet Mob example—Dog Poop Girl in South Korea—involves a woman.

I know violentacrez gets cited as a "doxxing" but it was just Gawker and I don't know of an online campaign that followed?
-
@sarahjeong did anyone post his address? I don’t think that counts as doxxing. -
@graceishuman Not sure tbh -
@sarahjeong doxxing I guess I assumed is more people posting your address, where you work, shit like that. violentacrez wasn’t doxxed AFAIK -
@graceishuman I've used the term for outings of ppl actively trying to maintain anonymity, eg sex workers, but I think lots of ppl agree w u - 1 réponse de plus

@sarahjeong@adriarichards@daniellecitron talks extensively about cyber mobs and marginalized groups in her new book. -
@schemaly@adriarichards@daniellecitron yep, I've read it. I have no doubt marginalized groups get more, but I'm shocked to find I can't + -
@schemaly@adriarichards@daniellecitron + think of ONE man who has received abuse on this particular coordinated level -
@sarahjeong What about Star Wars Kid? -
@Annaleen was he doxxed? -
@sarahjeong But it was weird because he was also a culture hero too. -
@Annaleen Yeah, that is an interesting example. I need to think about that one. - Fin de la conversation

@sarahjeong there's been some serious abuse, but typically with men who were activists or agitators, not dudes just doing their work. -
@anildash Like a 4chan-style, large-scale orchestrated sustained campaign, though? -
@sarahjeong no, they've only ever organized in support of dudes over the long term, afaik. -
@sarahjeong I mean, that's what I've always assumed. Even w/ me, the MRAs and the like only flare up every few months when there's a prompt. -
@anildash@sarahjeong I've looked extensively, too. Really haven't found any comparable examples of sustained effort.
