@sarahjeong the biggest tragedy imo is all of the hw investment in trying to eke out higher returns on a network with no stable equilibrium
@vogon tbf payments as they exist are dumb & bad but yeah all this money is going into a tech architecture that's not the right replacement

@sarahjeong I want cryptocurrency with a controllable money supply and deposit insurance and a trusted entity that can nullify stolen value -
@sarahjeong which is to say that I want traditional currency that can be transferred without letting payment processors skim off the top -
@vogon I also think the question of *who* controls the money supply is nontrivial, we take the Fed for granted but it's a young institution -
@sarahjeong yeah definitely, and I don't claim to be a monetary expert but bitcoin designing out controls on the money supply is arrogant -
