Reddit is making up the rules as it goes. And it's sucking at it. Me on free speech & Reddit as a government:http://onforb.es/WI8SN2

@sarahjeong: I know — I just think some of the conflicts you describe are almost impossible to reconcile (hate speech, etc.) -
@mathewi I’m not sure about that, see e.g. Katherine Sullivan’s great law review article: http://harvardlawreview.org/2010/11/two-concepts-of-freedom-of-speech/ … -
@mathewi The R.A.V. v. St. Paul treatment of hate speech is part of disagreement on the conception of free speech -
@mathewi the more accepted conception today is the libertarian one (R.A.V., Citizens United) but there’s multiple lenses to use here -
@sarahjeong: My default position is the libertarian one -- and I become more committed to it when I see how the UK and other handle it -
@mathewi Yeah not a fan of the UK but that’s, like, a clusterfuck of lots of other things too -
@sarahjeong: alas, it's clusterfucks all the way down :-) -
@mathewi another thing that I might add is that applying free speech absolutism to the internet is a reinvention of free speech in itself :) - 3 réponses de plus
