we wouldn’t “need” more surveillance if we just ever believed that people who are black and/or female can objectively report the truth
can we talk about being driven to advocate forms of surveillance (cop cameras) because of a systemic failure in which we disbelieve victims?

@sarahjeong@stphnbckr agreed. But added "out group" dynamic adds strong element of distrust b/c "other side" always can claim unfair motive -
@sarahjeong@stphnbckr so it would seem making police forces more representative of demographics and communities would be an excellent start -
@sarahjeong@stphnbckr I'm generally anti surveillance, but there is a certain bit of prudence in recording those with state power to kill
