@sarahjeong How's a movement going to do that? As soon as it becomes well known, media are going to cover it whether it wants that or not.

Right now we see movements actively become reliant on journalists--often seeking approval, trying to hit a PR image as peaceful. @donewman

It's the subtext when people say "You're not helping your cause"--the assumption that the goal is to be favorably covered. @donewman

As though the act of circling community space together in solidarity is really a media ploy, rather than about relationships. @donewman

@sarahjeong I have mixed feelings. I don't think it's a good idea to say, in essence, "we don't care how the outside world sees us."

@sarahjeong On the other hand, worrying too much about it can certainly be counterproductive as well. Like so many things, it's hard.

@sarahjeong One thing *is* certain, though, and that's that having a good public image is no longer just about traditional media.
