Seriously, look at an article (e.g. http://yalelawjournal.org/article/the-age-of-consent …) and then pick your jaw up from the floor. It's shockingly well-designed.

@sarahjeong@grimmelm it's become a pretty trendy way to do footnotes elsewhere online. Makes more sense for this than anywhere, though.1 réponse 0 Retweet 0 j'aime -

@xor@sarahjeong You don't want to know how much time I wasted trying to get something like this using TeX. Overflows are the big problem.1 réponse 0 Retweet 0 j'aime -

@xor@sarahjeong Truncating at 100 characters makes the layout problem easier, but doesn't completely solve it if there are tons of notes.1 réponse 0 Retweet 1 j'aime -

@grimmelm@sarahjeong I think the proper handling is to just keep stacking until you get some breathing room later? But opinions may differ.1 réponse 0 Retweet 1 j'aime -

@xor@sarahjeong You don't want to let note numbers get too far from the notes themselves. So you need a threshold to cut off stacking.1 réponse 0 Retweet 0 j'aime
