Every year, women at the law school organize meetings around “rape week”—the week in crim law we talk about rape.
-
-
-
the meetings basically consist of “Soooooo people are going to get triggered, here’s how you can help and/or not get triggered”
-
take every awful law student trait and throw them into a Socratic discussion about whether or not this rape case was rightly decided
-
*Yeah.*
-
and then once a professor compared mixed-race people to dogs at the pound, which he meant in a good way (“mutts are the best!”) but omg

Law school classrooms are incredibly unsafe spaces. And the HLS environment is particularly toxic. Am I entitled to a safe classroom? No.
-
But it’s so obvious why student body demographics play out the way they do.
-
If you’re not a white man, your spirit is going to take a much harder pummeling.
-
anyways, suck it, Kennedy School, you don’t know problems
-
Even the Business School is more sensitive to how its teaching methods disparately impact gender, than the Law School is, right now
-
I made it through with enough privilege as a cushion and enough of a thick skin to not be bothered.
-
But it kills me to know that the law school is going to keep paying lip service to diversity while ignoring problems inside the classroom
-
As I leave, other WOC will arrive, and many of them will have to see and learn the things I did
-
The administration has been extraordinarily unreceptive to student-led efforts to address HLS toxicity.
-
And by that, I mean, they won’t even cooperate with efforts to study / produce numbers regarding disparate impact. As basic as that.

~this has been your daily finals-period rant~ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
