I just had an interesting thought about “gentrification as a tech issue” — social / legal / regulatory issues bleeding into “tech policy”
I still don’t think tech publications are equipped to do this much reporting on SF gentrification...

Maybe the big hot questions in tech today have nothing to do with technology, they’re actually about unsexy things like municipal politics..

Technology is treated like a rarified sphere where only technologists and/or “those in the know” [geek cred] are allowed to comment...

…but technology problems aren’t really about technology any more. Understanding technological architecture is of marginal benefit.

And maybe that’s why we can call SF gentrification a “tech issue.” All the tech issues are non-tech issues, now.
