what I think is interesting about the critique of “tech feminism” from women is that the current approach signals their gender too strongly

but the current way that technology and technologists are portrayed/conceived-as is very much a performance of a particular masculinity

for a long time the masculinization of tech has been buried by the fallacy that masculinity ≡ football jocks and wall street suits

tech mythologies rely on the exceptionalim of “outsiders” and “outcasts.” but these outsiders are of course always young white men.

performing tech masculinity (even before the brogrammer era) does involve other-ing women and POC.
