what I think is interesting about the critique of “tech feminism” from women is that the current approach signals their gender too strongly
but the current way that technology and technologists are portrayed/conceived-as is very much a performance of a particular masculinity

tech mythologies rely on the exceptionalim of “outsiders” and “outcasts.” but these outsiders are of course always young white men.

performing tech masculinity (even before the brogrammer era) does involve other-ing women and POC.

the latter is perhaps best clearly seen in the blatant orientalism from earlier hacker scenes.

i worry that brogramming as a trend is really just a red herring— the fixation on that part of tech culture perhaps misses a broader problem
