I think the question then would be how to design a cryptocurrency ecosystem that isn’t de facto reliant on trusted third parties.
I think there’s a strong possibility that Bitcoin might get regulated out of usefulness.

@noahmccormack I guess arguably Muslim merchants (as detailed in Graeber’s book) did not use trusted third parties.
