Never thought about it like this: journalists are supposed to be motivated by truth. Lawyers are supposed to be zealous advocates.
Ergo journalists have a greater duty to the public at large than lawyers. *sputters, waves hands*

@Lawgeek the adversarial system is supposed to produce justice, or at least due process. Journalists don’t have something similar. -
@sarahjeong Yes, I suppose failure to fact check doesn't violate the Constitution, yet.
