1) Twitter as a medium makes it very difficult to backtrack and untangle drama 2) wow, that’s a lot of drama

Filtering by timeframe, specific down to the minute. And graphs. Lots of graphs.
-
I call it “drama,” but it’s really important to be able to connect the dots re: human interaction on digital media.
-
If you’re having huge, explosive, extremely complex multi-person interactions, it’s something worth being able to study and take apart
-
Linear chat / forum formats made it easy. Nested comment threads make it weird, but still doable. Twitter makes it incredibly hard.
-
@sarahjeong do you think that twitters popularity might be in part bc it is easy to be angered and hard to be accountable? -
I think maybe in part, but I also think that Twitter allows for more complex interactions than other media…
@weedguy420boner -
… like you can weave people in and out, carry on multiple threads without including it all in one mega thread
@weedguy420boner -
it’s form of communication with more inherent complexity than messageboards, chats, chatrooms, or IRL

@sarahjeong Have you tried TweetDeck and the new custom timelines? I've used it to scoop up a group conversation a couple times. -
I almost always tweet from the Tweetdeck desktop client. I presently have 18 columns. Lots of filters. I eventually hit a wall.

I’ve always really enjoyed digging up old interactions on forums, &my difficulty w/ doing that on Twitter is an intriguing problem.
@buster -
@sarahjeong Have you also used custom timelines? They allow you to drag tweets in from multiple columns and to share it. -
@buster I love that functionality. It’s the initial search that makes me crazy. -
@buster I also find I often end up going in-browser for searches, because the Tweetdeck search is wonky, which makes custom TL less useful -
@sarahjeong Ah got it. Yeah definitely things to improve. I'll pass the feedback on.

@sarahjeong other than the programming challenge, the main issue would be Twitter’s steep licensing for client (see Tweetbot). -
Absolutely agree, but I still think this is a cool enough idea to entertain.

@sarahjeong I'm sure the NSA has that. -
Not implausible, but dang, that’s some expensive API access.

@sarahjeong Maybe following Twitter feuds is the secret behind the Utah data center: http://nsa.gov1.info/utah-data-center/ …
