last night this guy was explaining to me his vision of a sky swarming with drones and I wanted to cry
he did convince me that the train is hurtling down the rails & this commercial drones thing is going to be insanely hard to stop

@sarahjeong like the alternatives are a) nothing does those tasks b) those tasks are done by large, crewed aircraft -
@sarahjeong there's an argument to be made for a) in a lot of cases, but b) pretty much just pointlessly puts lives on the line -
yeah, I can get that, but his excitement about changing FAA regs and CA law terrified me. def feeling technophobia on this one

@sarahjeong yeah, there are definitely going to be some things that need to be ironed out as uncrewed aircraft expand beyond pilot programs -
@sarahjeong I think the important thing is to try to minimize drones' exposure to crewed a/c until we understand what's likely to go wrong
