Very happy for George Huynh, but can we talk about how problematic that “Boston reporter helps get kid into Yale” story is?
It’s a good story, but why does it resonate? Because the story is half white savior / half model minority bootstraps himself out of poverty.

Don’t even want to go through counterfactuals. Kid gets straight Bs, kid gets arrested for minor offense, parents object to reporter’s gifts
