@xor yes and that's not illogical! +1 is simple and we're talking about crippling time-sensitive civic engagement hashtags. -
@xor And then your next argument is "But then it will just get circumvented" --> Yes. Some spammers will. But if no detriment, then why not? -
@xor Yes, some avenues have a clear detriment (like pay-per-tweet, pay-per-account). But those are ideas on the other side of the spectrum. -
@sarahjeong and of course the detriment is false positives. Like: excluding new users from hashtags, for example.
