I wish @twitter hashtags didn't fill up with spam so quickly. There's got to be an efficient algorithm to prevent that.

@sarahjeong either it gains a critical mass and is circumvented or it doesn't and gives no spam herd immunity for activists

@sarahjeong also, decades of email experience are informative here. Client side filtering is hard. -
@xor yes. E-mail has been a struggle. But it's still gotten better over time. -
@sarahjeong twitter could "solve" spam by charging per message, too. Always a tradeoff, and it's an oversimplification to say otherwise. -
@xor I don't think spam as a whole is a straightforward problem. But some spam is. -
@sarahjeong maybe. But if there is no bound to the size of the "easy spam" problem, who's to say Twitter hasn't gone far enough? -
@xor when I have NO way to filter all tweets that say "Get more Followers Lawrence of Arabia#NotYourAsianSidekick Lilo & Stitch". -
@xor I just tried to screen out "Lilo" from a hashtag using Tweetdeck and it is kind of breaking Tweetdeck.
