What copyright reforms should Congress consider? My list so far: shorter terms, formalities, repeal DMCA 1201, lower penalties, orphan works

@sarahjeong And the WIPO treaty doesn't require the DMCA to have exactly the form it currently has. It could be made less objectionable.
@binarybits KORUS (in effect) & TPP (still being negotiated) strongly resemble DMCA 1201, hindering possible reform

@sarahjeong Looking through KORUS, I think most of my reform ideas are precluded. All the more reason to withdraw from the treaty. -
@binarybits It's a pretty nasty piece of work, right? The 2011 proposed draft of TPP (the most up-to-date leak) is worse.
