Hi all, I have a statement about the tweets that have been going around:

Yes, you have faced a real deal of racially focused online hate. However, that does not in way excuse your behavior. If you had tried to irritate them in some other non-racist way, it would have been fine. To respond like that is unacceptable.

Why can't she give people a taste of their own medicine?
-
Because then it causes a never ending cycle of racism, someone needs to step up and be the bigger person, eye for an eye just means the whole world goes blind
-
I disagree. I read she should be the bigger person. What if the harrassment never stops. She can't go to the principal's office. She can't go to the human resources office. I think she has a right to punch back. What does a non-white person do.
-
Also for a white guy you sure seem to know what it’s like to be a minority

Tattling is for people who can’t handle disputes like adults.

I’m confused who was that aimed at

NYTs is a rag nowadays not even fit to line a bird cage. Perfect example is them hiring this racist sad little liberal who reflects how that tabloid thinks.

Would you mind explaining your tweet from August 11, 2014 in which you call for the shooting of police officers? I'd love to read your explanation of the context behind that one.

All American citzens would love to hear Sara Jeong's explanation for encouraging violence on the men and women that keep us safe!

Very Bare-bones apology. Makes sure we pay extra attention to those harassing her, and apologizes for how she showed her intentions, not apologizing for her intentions at all. I'm quite easy to please when it comes to apologies, but she doesn't even know what she did wrong.
-
I want to know what people were attacking her FOR. I bet is was for sucking at life. NOTHING to do with being Asian. But I’m just a dumb brown woman,
who doesn’t get attacked racially online EVER. -
or typos. Maybe it was for typos.

Good statement, I hope more people are able to read it with an open mind. You were faced with ugliness in a form that goes against the standards of the medium. I have often seen these attacks & reported the attacker no matter whose "side" they might be against.
-
I try to discourage fighting fire with fire, but I completely understand & respect the level of anger & frustration you felt being on the recieving end of hate speech. As a teacher, I am always trying to coax people into clear open communication & I am increasingly concerned.
-
Do well as an editor, encourage communication, & crusade against mindless hate. I feel strongly about value of reaching out to children & investment in public education. Not all, but much hate & racism can be avoided by engagement across racial or cultural divisions. PEACE.

Amazing that you believe you can know what others are thinking & feeling.
-
It's sad to know you pretend to express knowledge to children
-
Apparently, my being a teacher makes me open for personal insults from people who don't agree with me. I wish we could disagree without getting into personal attacks. If you have never met me, seen me teach, without knowledge, you come to conclusions? You remind me of someone..
-
I read your tweets you exposed yourself as a hater It's ok you trying to deflect from the subject of you pretending to be knowledgeable Its very sad the indoctrination the NEA is putting children thru in this country Keep on pretending but spare the children your ignorance
