  5. progress: with stage 5 (finally) complete, I've turned my attention to stage 6. First step: add a few new enemy types to fill out the stage a bit more. Then comes a bit of balancing for Maniac difficulty level. It's all progress, so that's good.🙂

    progress: I did change the back layer of stage 5 last night, so now it looks much fuller.🥰Well, I like it, but I probably won't post yet another stage 5 WIP video... It's time to move on to stage 6!😃And that'll be today... unless I have another distraction...😉

    progress: tried out my 2 layer scroll optimisation... and it works!😃It's reduced the slowdown on the NTSC version, so NTSC peeps rejoice!😃Does use up a bit more cartridge space, but right now I'm on 187K out of 512K, so not really an issue...😉

    progress: I'm adding another optimisation to my 2 layer scroll to speed it up some more. On paper it looks real good and should be a nice little speed up, so I'll try it out this evening and report my findings.😃

    progress: okay, one last video clip of me trying to play stage 5 on Manic difficulty level... and with invulnerability switched off. let's see how many lives I lose... Oh, and for NTSC, I can live with a bit of slowdown in places, but I'll try to minimise it.🙂

    progress: with all the recent optimisations, I can push stage 5 a little more, so have added extra enemies for Manic difficulty level.🙂I'll check it tonight, and if it's okay, I can move onto finalising stage 6. Oh, I so feel the need to make better progress!

    My brother has been reading my Stone Of Argentos fantasy trilogy and has finished book 1... He loved it, so now he's on the 2nd book.😃Made me think about (eventually) getting back to writing as I have another series to write... When I'm ready, I shall.🙂

    Wanted to read one of my own books on my Kindle last night (), but opened the Kindle to a "Very Low Battery" warning before it powered down!😮Decided to go for the backup device, so went down to the study and pulled the physical paperback from the shelf.😃

    I did have the idea to make a special Valentines version of Neutron, one I'd name Valtron, but I'd better not...😉Imagine a game full of hearts and angels, and dark creatures turning to good before floating happily off the screen...😉Nah, I'd better finish Soul Force instead...

    progress: been optimising more code... so here's the NTSC version from cartridge startup to game. I feel that stage 5 is okay now, so it's time to get on with the rest of the game and make some progress!😃

    progress: hmm... seems I did a pretty good on the original disk version... The new cartridge version is only marginally faster right now, despite unrolling all the scroll systems loops. Still, it does run a bit quicker, and is much, much faster loading!😃

    progress: 2 layer scroll system is working again, and I've also optimised the code!😃Surprisingly, the new code worked first time!😮😃So that's the whole game working again. I still have to fix one of the player weapon types, but that should be easy...
