Interesting question: do people deserve credit for having socially proper views even if the reasoning they give for their views is faulty?

On the one hand, they're still on the socially favored side. On the other hand, they're clearly only there through accident or hypocrisy.

I guess it depends on whether you want the right views to be accepted, or to have specific views be accepted whether or not they're right.
