dunno if i could summarise. partly because suicide in media reveals to people more effective less traumatic methods (e.g. barbiturate overdose) and partly because many people are constantly on the verge of suicide anyway

also: suicide rates increasing has to be seen from the perspective of living in a society with a de facto suicide prohibition (medical revival, censorship in media) e.g. why do doctors, vets, dentists have high suicide rates? easiest explanation = easy barbiturate access

my main prior is that there is extremely little positive knowledge about suicide, and anyone making strong claims is likely wrong at best

but people have been believing in suicide contagion for decades at least without evidence so the belief must do something for them idk
