I am also trying out turning off retweets by muting "RT @", but not sure I'll keep it because sometimes I do want to see those too. It's definitely made it more peaceful already, though!

I couldn't take the excess twitter noise in my timeline so I used this muted word list from @IanColdwater (thank you Ian!) and it worked like magic.

What's interesting is that you might feel like you're missing out or something, but the truth is, the noise drowns out the people you actually want to hear from! I'm not seeing less, I'm seeing the folks I'm purposefully following who were drowned out!
