There is of course a God. Myopic pseudo-philosophers reject God on the basis of simplistic imagery/metaphor of a man in the clouds. They quickly conclude it's absurd and drop God w/ it, failing to realize that God exists by necessity as the universal coherence of reality, energy.

I never thought of myself as a myopic pseudo-philosopher. It has a nice ring to it.

Her story is still very wet.

The fastest growing religion in western world is “Atheism”. Humans always need something to believe in. Without faith how would one believe one is real. Atheism is also a religion, atheists have less superstitions. People should give up superstition, but Faith is different matter
-
I don’t understand in what sense you consider atheism a religion?
-
The hint is in the suffix ‘ism’. If sugar is sweet, absence of sugar is also a quality, sugarless. But can someone understand sugarless without sugar, they are just two different sides of same coin. The ideal state is to go beyond both, which humanly is not possible.
-
Not really, atheism is just not believing in a god due to no real evidence, nothing more, nothing less. Its not a belief system. The only reason it has a name is bc of theism. Its the same thing as not believing in alfs or santa claus or pink capricorns.
-
Not believing in superstitions is a different thing. The moment you define athiesm as a negation of something, you are in logical in-consistency. I can have open mind and say we do not know where we came from. Why should we forced to believe in non-sense of scientific determinism
-
Yes, atheism is same as not believing in superstition, but only when it relate to the specific superstition theism...good that you now understand. And as an atheist you can have an open mind, some atheists believe in science, some maybe in magic of nature, or we come from aliens.
-
why this compelling need for getting converts to atheism- sounds like any other traditional religion. No thanks I am fine. I just want to be, neither a believer nor a non-believer. I do not want to replace my superstitious faith with the mirage of scientific determinism. -
So you want to be both a believer and non-believer, but at the same time have faith in superstition...you need to be a believer to have faith...so how can you be a non-believer? Also you can only hold an atheist position towards theism, not towards other superstitions...:)

Main problem for "none" is that as it is not organised, it does not get as much say in society as organised religious lobby groups.
-
There are many groups that people can pigeonhole themselves in without pigeonholing into things they dont believe in.

There is of course no god. But society without religion may not work out well.
-
A mortal with a limited lifespan asserting his personal opinion as fact. Atheism: Where you're your own God, but still have to follow the laws of mortals
-
We all follow the laws of mortals, some just follow 2000 yrs old laws made up by mortals and some follow newer laws. Then we have the real laws, the laws of nature...
