Car crashes kill 1.25 million of people a year - more than 2X as many as violence. Developed countries have reduced the rate by > 95% -- many more lives could be saved, espeically in the developing world. https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2018/05/traffic/ … via @Harvard

        Well, it's certainly relevant.

It is very strange to me that auto accidents are not a primary focus of political action.

I spent some time in Israel, too. Car crashes kill more Palestinians and more Jews than, er, you know. Did you know the First Intifada sprang from protests following a military court ruling finding an Israeli truck driver not liable for the traffic deaths of four Palestinians?

What about road privatization as a solution? @WalterEBlock has great ideas about this topic of privatization too.

Obeying traffic laws runs against the culture in so many places. That's not to say they can't change, but we're up against a lot. I remember the crosswalk lights in Turkey. They read: "RUN" / "DON'T RUN". That's just my guess based on observed behavior. I don't read Turkish.

It is true that the situation is grave in countries like India and a lot of measures are in order. But since intent matters, not sure if it can be compared to violence.

Slightly left field fact: in the UK, 310 people are killed by drunk drivers. 1200 people are killed by stairs. Why isn't using stairs a criminal offence?
