The Free-Market Welfare State: Preserving dynamism in a volatile world, by Samuel Hammond. (I make similar arguments in Enlightenment Now, noting that successful countries have freeish markets AND social spending). https://niskanencenter.org/blog/the-free-market-welfare-state-preserving-dynamism-in-a-volatile-world/ … via @NiskanenCenter

It’s interesting to note that in most categories Scandinavian countries rate equal or higher in economic freedom than us. Main difference is higher taxation, but receiving universal healthcare and education gives you the freedom to pursue your dreamshttps://medium.com/rational-zone/why-calling-scandinavia-socialist-is-wrong-37c873314839 …

is really Sweden a good models for the US? As we speak the Swedish #PayAsYouGo #hightaxwelfarestate is facing severe problems. Due to no redundancy for crisis' (migrant chock), taxes in the 3 largest cites has to be raised by ~17%. (avg tax up from 40 to 45% of income)

The average Swede pays 45% of income. A govt study done by 2002 posited that to pay for the welfare state county taxes has to be raised by 2040 by 50%. Average Swede will then pay 60% in taxes. Unsustainable.https://twitter.com/aClassicLiberal/status/993668504292294656?s=19 …

By 50% or “TO” 50%? I think you meant to put a COMMA after state when u said “welfare state county taxes” right?

U mean WAS raised from 30% to 45% meaning it’s already been done right? When u say “taxes has to be raised by 2040 by 50%. Average Swede will then pay 60% in taxes.”, I think u meant TO 50%, so y would they pay 60% instead of 50%?

30%x50%+45%=60% (Prognosis for 2040 made in govt report 2002, however it's gotten worse. Now 2030 looks closer.)

The bigger the government the smaller the citizen. Government handouts are proven not to work and just create a dependency class.

Denmark doesn’t really have a future now does it? A minuscule birthrate and the mass importation of Islamic culture spell doom. How did this happen? The people are lulled to sleep with the opioid of government benefits.
