Why isn't there more research to control for the huge changes in SLA approach & environment w/ age? What if the typical use of conscious abilities gained w/ maturity interferes w/ attainment, so adults could attain greater w/ a childlike SLA approach(i.e. implicit, input-focused)

In other words, have adults learn languages like children to see what the results will be. At least, control for key aspects like the so-called "silent period", i.e., how children internalize L2 through experience before production to a much greater extent than adult L2 learners.

I want to bring about research to control for the differences between typical child & adult SLA to see how capable adults may be of picking up L2s & becoming fluent as children. To this end I returned to uni to study psych & linguistics, now am trying to find the best way forward

I also attended a program (
@auathai) that teaches L2s in a childlike way more than anything else I've found. Adults pick up Thai through 100s of hours of CI—listening w/o study or practice. Very long "silent period" where L2 emerges on its own. Claims some approach native fluency

I'd like to research about this topic. Where could I find other articles? Do you have any recommendation?

I still disagree with you and Bill! Just because the world appears to be a less hostile place statistically. It misses out something? All human beings suffer. The potential now to inflict suffering has never been greater!
