I have taught ESL for a quite a while. I do think it takes longer for adult to learn English than children. HOWEVER I also do believe that adults learn differently than children. i.e. I teach kids by repetition, but I teach adults through correcting their logical fallacies,

And I can guarantee you, if the study uses the same method to teach both kids and adults, it's NOT going to work. Adults lose interest quickly if they can't apply what they learn immediately. Kids lose interest if you start adultsplaining!
