Hey Steven! i was just philosophizing topical existential conundrums such as what is the nature of consciousness? and is there free will? then i realized something profund! you just have to make your microtubulos oscillate succinctly in quantum coherence!!! instant enlightenment!

I've added EN to my reading list. The sword of our advancing technology has two edges. Increasing inequality will put more power in the hands of an ever smaller group. History has taught us what happens when a few wield great power. Has it ever been good?

Inequality in the USA is, indeed, increasing. Globally, however, inequality is in decline, as poorer countries experience faster economic growth. (The USA’s GDP growth is <3%; much of Africa experiences >5%.)
-
I think you are misusing the statistic. Inequality is being reduced BETWEEN nations. Countries that were previously poor (as countries) like China and India are not as poor now. But, inequality WITHIN those nations is increasing. We have wage-slave class and landlord class.

It’s a good read. A rejection of the cynicism — this assumption of decadence — that increasingly poisons dialog on both sides. Not surprisingly, there’s much (bipartisan)resistance to the idea things are improving.

“It’s not as bad as all that” has been my mantra for years but recently, short term, I’m beginning to reconsider.

Nature is collapsing, the human race is literally unnecessarily eating itself extinct But everything’s fine because I can fudge statistics and paint a delusional picture of the world When you take what you don’t need from nature, it turns on you And destroys youpic.twitter.com/yJH532dOAG
