I agree. @salonium is amazing. She wrote the definitive review to Enlightenment Now.

Even though I only accept (usually) about 65% of
@sapinker 's conclusions, your critique criticism raised very important points. Thank you.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Dattani's review, which mentions that of
@rossdouthat , should mention that Douthat was reviewing a book he hadn't read.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I already knew of Burke and others such as Prince Metternich. Thanks to Dattani, my reading list of great men opposed to all this regressive thought will increase, Hamann, de Maistre and Barruel were unknown prior to this article. Thanks for the insite.pic.twitter.com/GcwvVRQJzi

Pinker has a rather dishonest chapter on climate catastrophism full of appeals to authority and assertions made without evidence.
@AlexEpstein debunked these claims.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Rejection of ancient wisdom for the vanity of human reason has led to some of the worst events in human history. To believe that humanity is now immune to this condition is the epitome of hubris. See here for a good take on this.https://medium.com/@EissesMatthew/hubris-the-human-condition-557ffd3da9d?source=linkShare-167bb6c41bfa-1521673007 …

And where did this "ancient wisdom" come from? Human reason, perhaps? If so, you're contradicting yourself. If not, then whence?
-
So you’re assuming that the only source of knowledge and wisdom in this universe is human reason? That’s exactly the point I’m trying to make. That’s hubris to a T. How did Democritus posit the atom? how did Boscovich understand unified field theory?
-
I'll give you some good old British "ancient wisdom" mate - don't big up yer own articles with words like "good take". That's for others to judge.
-
I think the modern term they use for it is “advertising” it’s like a trillion dollar a year industry, but yeah, I’m sure that ancient wisdom of yours has some sort of value. You just keep at it and you’ll bang out some gems eventually.
