The Guardian asked me to recommend 5 books to make you an optimist. I came up with more than 5 here:https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/feb/26/further-reading-steven-pinker-books-to-make-you-an-optimist?CMP=share_btn_tw …

The city sky is gray with pollution and the snow white breasts of the birds are dirty gray-black with factory and open pit mine dust. The rich and super-rich live above the polluted Salt Lake valley, in Park City, reading Pinker with optimistic grins.

I'd feel more optimistic if I could see some sign that we as a society are going to address our society's systemic flaws. Where are two people who are willing to say in a public forum that natural wealth should be shared. Or one person who can put an argument why it should not B.pic.twitter.com/x4oN3wXPJD

The world has and will always be an uncertain place. Nothing has changed. First religious people used scriptures to sell false hope. Pinker tries to do the same with wishful thinking like humans have become more enlightened. Really did you have a look inside Putin‘s brain lately?

Now we can kill millions of people while drinking French wine and reading Shakespeare, while an AI controlled plane does the dirty job. Why is that better than a bunch of tribals using daggers to kill say a 100 people - or does killing with style make us more enlightened?

I'm listening to @mattwridley's "The Rational Optimist" right now. It is fantastic.

If you'd rather watch a documentation, try “Tomorrow“ (e.g. included in Prime Video)

The @guardian has finally done something besides say how great you and twinkling blue eyes are. Your part in scientific racism is finally being discussed.https://www.theguardian.com/news/2018/mar/02/the-unwelcome-revival-of-race-science …

A human army man no matter how stupid, how brilliant the psychologists responsible for brain washing him, will always hesitate a little before pulling the trigger( nuclear or pistol), that reluctance or guilt is a sense of higher intelligence. With AI you lose that. Dangerous.
