Yes, there are threats facing the planet. But we know that there is one measure that will not make the world safer: moaning that we're doomed. @globeandmailhttps://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/the-dangers-of-worrying-about-doomsday/article38062215/?utm_medium=Referrer:+Social+Network+/+Media&utm_campaign=Shared+Web+Article+Links …

Gone from saying ‘everything is good’ in previous book, to ‘things are threatened but we need to be positive’. LOL. How things must have deteriorated.

He never said that. Btw, hyperbole is the death of intelligent conversation.

You would benefit from making an appointment with a dictionary, pronto. Paraphrasing and hyperbole are not one and the same.

Agree, moaning does NOT help, let move on from the self pity party.

While I'm not particularly qualified to give analysis. IMO there are many good points in this article but also many naive misunderstandings and outright deceptions that work to support the author's position.

Reality is the only thing that really matters; not what we think about it.

True on some level. On deeper levels, within a complex adaptive system such as life, what we think about reality shapes reality.

It doesn't shape gravity. It doesn't make us become magicians who can shape reality. Reality is that which doesn't go away when you stop believing in it!

You're a climate change denier dimwit, I see. Steven Pinker probably doesn't doubt climate change. If he does, he's not really a scientist.

The Y2K bug example works against you. That issue could have been a huge issue if there wasn't a concerted effort among IT people to fix the issue. We can draw parallels with that and AI. Be prepared for it should be the underlying lesson.

We need a new agency that has all of the positive news that exists. So people don't keep thinking it's awful.
