Not sure this is something to applaud given that the NYT didn’t list @jordanbpeterson’s ‘12 Rules for Life’ for denied but quite obvious ideological reasons. If enlightenment is what we’re going for then censoring the books we don’t like is the opposite of the goal.

Couldn't it also be something like it's sold well on Amazon but not in physical bookstores, which might play a bigger role in NYT calculations?
-
Almost certainly. Plenty of books that don’t align with the
@nytimes editorial position make the list. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_New_York_Times_Best_Seller_list …

This is from a Petersonian, guys... Please arrange a debate with Peterson (again), would love to see! :Dpic.twitter.com/E1KrkAywee

That's a wonderful paragraph from S. Pinker. Thanks.pic.twitter.com/T0yVtybUcx

This is similar to a posit
@neiltyson once said in a talk to non-believers. "Don't ask what the 85% of atheist scientists think, but why are there 15% who still believe."https://youtu.be/1LI4ewTriTA -
Revelation replaces investigation. Religion keeping us ignorant.

A critical review from New Statesman:https://www.newstatesman.com/culture/books/2018/02/unenlightened-thinking-steven-pinker-s-embarrassing-new-book-feeble-sermon …
-
Critical..bwahahahaaaaa. err. No. Self defence of silliness pretending to be rational.
-
The reviewer is religous, but the criticisms of Pinker's delusion that we are heading to utopia are valid. Worst war in human history was in 1940s, highest crime rate in US was in early 1990s. What would Pinker's theory look like in 1928?

Congratulations Steven! I am about 1/3 of the way through, and it is without a doubt one of the most exciting and inspiring books I’ve ever read. Well done!

I read a strong critque on the book so wondering if I shouldn't buy Damasio's or Metzinger's instead. We need positivity but the Enlightenment fellows did little to help society except share reason. If the book is too pro-Enlightenment, I'm in doubt.
-
all respect to SP but positions on list not NB 4me; my gripe with horseman crew is ignoring cultural function of Religion, and stance of non-negotiable reason. Historical Enlightenment views were not reason only. See Peter Harrison AU.pic.twitter.com/rCGFuRJKy5
