For anyone who uses the term 'gun nut' unironically, I'd highly recommend this book, by a liberal journalist who toured the country to actually talk with gun owners, and overcame his biases and stereotypes.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00985E64O/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1 …

It's a little beyond the pale referring to people who seek to defend themselves and their families from violent criminals as "gun nuts". Also, you know there is no positive correlation between firearm ownership and higher levels of violence.
-
record employment stats may have something to do with it. More scumbags in work.
-
Indeed. Crime is multi-factorial. Guns are just a tool of the trade, not a causal factor.
-
agreed. I don't think this topic is ever analysed properly.

Good to see you're keeping a measured tone and language so that all people are open to your good science and data driven arguments. I don't own any guns but find your 'gun nuts' slur fuggin repulsive, bro.

I'm a gun owner and didn't feel personally attacked by the "gun nut" comment. If you did, maybe it hits close to home? Lol
-
Not feeling attacked but curious. Does it mean those who stockpile or collectors or hunters or marksmen or sellers?
-
The phrase “as a symbolic protests” made me think of those with “assault style” rifles slung over their shoulders at restaurants and other mundane outlets. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
Could be. That's why I asked for clarification.

I'm a responsible gun owner, not a "nut". I don't make frivolous firearms purchases or "arm up" symbolically. Remington's quality has left myself and other customers wanting for a better, more reliable product.

Gun ownership is not violence.

I'm pretty sure (most of) the gun-nuts he's referring to are more than happy to use that title, lol. He's not calling every gun owner a gun nut. A gun nut is someone who lives and breaths firearms. Big collectors, reviewers, tactical dudes... The nutnfancy's of the world.
-
As there is less violence and therefor less perceived threat, less people will feel the need to buy guns for self-defense, which lower over-all gun sales to people buying for hobby, collection, and sport.

I always look to
@sapinker for reasonable and lucid commentary. This one is off the mark. - 1 more reply

I’m a gun-nut, and Remington is just a victim of capitalism. Personally, I haven’t seen anything over the last decade from this company to make me choose their product over what I see as superior products. They have the 870 shotgun, that’s about it.
