Science is an understanding of Nature and of what exists. It is not a sentient being that needs approval from society. It is true whether you believe in it or do not believe in it or when there no longer are any humans to debate about it.

Science has "truth" problems. The speed of light either depends or doesn't on the speed of the observer, and if you choose the falsehood (doesn't) as axiom, physics dies. So did Einstein. Yet the speed of light does depend on the speed of the observer:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bg7O4rtlwEE …

I’ve heard this chant my whole life, “follow the science.” Yet, to take only the ecological realm, science has not stopped most rivers in US from being severely polluted, the molestation of soils from chemicals, the production of food that’s basically tasteless. Thanks science!

We must note the word /inform/. Science is a useful tool for informing our values, moral choices, and even amoral choices and values, but we must also remember that there is what seems a bridgeless gap between /is/ and /ought/. Lets not fall prey to scientism either.

Science is useful and its utility is its justification. Scientism, OTOH, is not useful and does require justification.
