O Canada! Now gender-neutral, though just as syntactically convoluted. And God is still there to replace one of the dorky stand-on-guards. Still, better than God save the Queen, the anthem I grew up singing.https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/01/world/canada/o-canada-lyrics-gender-neutral.html …

As you probably know, O Canada in French is neither gender-neutral nor inclusive

Really, truly do not care. We as a country have far bigger problems than worrying about offending someone over the word 'sons'. SMH.

Dude this doesn’t bug me at all. If people want to teach their daughters to sing an anthem that has them included in the lyrics, let them. A lot of our traditions are/were shitty. Next generation will probably take the god part out, and I’ll be happy for that as well.

If you read the article you realize that the « sons » version was also a change from past History.

To this Brit the idea of Canadians singing 'God save the Queen' seems really weird.

Australian national anthem "Australian sons let us rejoice" morphed into "Australians all let us rejoice" years ago withour any hullabaloo.
