Isn't that a leftist goal?

Can't tell if serious or sarcasm

Sarcasm doesn’t travel well online. Handle with care. That being said: lol

"politics should skip left vs right clichés" Sounds great, how exactly do we do that?
-
Vote for independents in every election. Only way things change for you guys is if you remove the collective power that the two major parties hold.

And thank you for Donald Trump.

Fake news, Pinker. reading this may hint at the fact that we could learn something from other countries, which I’ve recently learned is deeply unpatriotic.

Canada number 6!

Don't be smug. We have lots of problems too. And being smug isn't a very attractive quality
-
One of the great things about a free country, is that you get to be how you would like to be. I will definitely be smug that racist, protectionist, anti-science, anti-intellectual, anti-globalism, anti-immigration viewpoints, laws, and beliefs are not doing America well.
-
And being smug about it, rather than genuinely concerned for our neighbours, is also not a very attractive quality. I suggest we clean up our own complex and significant messes before we indulge in "smug." Do you think those awful qualities you listed don't exist in Canada?
-
Of course we do but not to the same extent. I will say as a black female the most racism/sexism I have ever encountered has been during short visits to the US. What I am/(will be) able to achieve in my life is thanks to my parents but also being born in Canada and not the US.
-
I'm proud of my country too but not blind to it's very significant problems. I've seen conditions in remote FN communities, e.g. I also regret what's happening in the US. None of that leaves room for smugness, condescension or a superiority complex.
-
Agreed. But saying Canada is number 6 isn't really smug. Being humble is important, but why as Canadians, do we feel we cannot celebrate our wins? American's get to have pride but we do not? Yes, FN treatment is dreadful. And we can thank the many groups for preserving BC.
-
I agree. But we need to be careful that we don't celebrate our pride in our country by denigrating some one else's. And I am proud that my country gave you the opportunity to excel. We all deserve that chance.

Might this somehow be correlated to our standing as 22nd out of 26 OECD countries on income equality?https://data.oecd.org/inequality/income-inequality.htm …

Of course the US looks bad when you remove all economic indicators. Fact is, the US is richer than almost all these other countries. If you want more "social progress", you have to sacrifice economic prosperity and real income.
