The AI models that look up facts in Wikipedia articles still don't understand a word -- qualitatively different from humans.http://wapo.st/2Dl0KfK?tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.d81af1a131ae …

Yes professor, however, answer me this: given the many orders of magnitude humans who operate on the basis of limited and even, dare I say, unreason, wouldn't you derive more stimulus in spending time with today's AI, no matter how narrow their parameters?

AI models beat humans at reading comprehension... But humans are still special in our own special way.

It also has lot of facts wrong since there are progressive and feminist activist groups that organize conventions and events to rewrite Wikipedia.

And yet, the human writers who professionally wrote and edited the WaPo article included the vulgar "got" in the lede. Lol

No matter how self-satisfied it might make prescriptivists feel, "got" indicating an obligation is not 'vulgar'. It does tend to be a little less formal than alternatives, but then so does "a ways to go". The point is communication, not formalism.

Humans can be afflicted with this, too -- word knowledge vs true understanding. Feynman talks about this in "Surely You're Joking Mr Feynman" pp 241-249 and here:https://youtu.be/lFIYKmos3-s

Honestly we're quite lucky AI doesn't understand words yet If they did I wager we'd be in a bit of trouble.
