It's too late. Renewables are too cheap, nuclear can't compete anymorehttp://johnquiggin.com/2017/10/23/nuclear-starts-stop/ …

Not looking good for @JohnQuiggin's renewables-dependent Australia electricity market right now: http://catallaxyfiles.com/2018/01/21/government-induced-power-crisis-averted-for-now/ … In addition to coal, maybe time to add some nuclear to the mix?

No company would take the financial risk of doing nuclear here, even if the govt permitted it. Now, if we could just get the coal generators to not fail in the heat like has been happening...

Did you actually read these articles? People were exposed to Fukushima reactor radiation but non of them died from it. This includes the director of the plant.

I always wondered why anti-nuclear fools are always quick to assume nuclear experts are lying, but never suspect anti-nukes are lying. Why is that?

Good. I've had a hard time figuring out where nuclear will play a role in the future (gas is too cheap) but robot taxi service might be the draw for nuclear. Zero emission and reliable. Transportation energy in a city is predictable.

Side note - California set to decommission its last nuclear plants at Diablo Canyon in the mid 20's - ones that supply 10% of their energy needs - while paying out 1/4 billion dollars for retention and retraining of its workers...http://dailycaller.com/2018/01/12/california-is-shuttering-the-last-nuclear-power-plant-in-the-state/ …
