Children today have no fear of adults. It has led to an undisciplined, rebellious and spoiled youth. Generational expectation of satisfaction rather than frugality will drain resources beyond capacity. I fear for the future!

Thank you for saying this! It’s such a pervasive attitude, yet few realize it’s a regurgitated line that says more about the fear and lack of imagination of the elders, than the “problems” with our youth. (Hey bee, meet my bonnet.)

respecting elders seems to be a lost idea in the western world.

soon it'll be illegal to sit your child in the corner for a time out because it causes "mental anguish." just let your child run free of all discipline, folks.

I believe in personal freedom. One slap can save thousands words. Why state needs 2 tell parrents what to do?

It's not about protecting children. It's about taking authority away from parents; the government knows every parent pats their child, taps their child, commits some tiny infraction under this new law that will permit the state to take a child away if that's what the state wants.

Now will they also stop the mental punishment of children through religious indoctrination? Like anything else, let children decide about religion when they become adults!
-
49% of the population of Wales was “no religion” or “not stated” in the 2011 census. So yes, I’d say they’re ahead on that score as well, and trending higher.
-
Latest British Social Attitudes survey had it at 53% for Britain. There is a problem with schools though, 20% are of Anglican faith, but only 3% of adults under 24 are.

theres a difference between physical discipline and abuse. These ppl think it is all abuse...
-
No, there really isn't. We don't accept physical discipline of adults. No employer could treat employees that way *even if* an employee screwed up. It would be counted as a clear case of assault. Nor do we accept people hitting their partners.

Really? Wierd that they would learn fear if it's *not* about pain, because it's the pain they fear. In fact, I think you'll find protection rackets in the criminal world work in exactly the same way - 'do things our way or we'll do something you're frightened of'.
-
How about if someone tells their partner "do things my way or I'll beat you"? Because again that's *exactly* what some people do - and we regard it as unacceptable. Children are not stupid, it is not that there is no other way they can learn.
