Did you read this before you stopped? Easily one of the greatest and most important books ever written.pic.twitter.com/L5BGSORZDY

This book is terrible. It undervalues suffering and death by comparing such figures to the size of the exploding world population, claiming that percentages are more important than absolute numbers. John N Gray is the best antidote to this Pollyanna rubbish.

Along with Michel houllebecq and Fredric schiefter the only (popular) living antinatalists.
-
The only human suffering I really see anymore is either caused by religious oppression and various diseases. We're finding cures for a few of the latter. The world is getting better and going forward for the most part.
-
Sadly you are completely wrong here John. An exploding human population of 8-10 billion isn't supportable on a finite planet. New (e.g. Ebola-like) diseases, new strains of antibiotic-resitant viruses, are evolving - rarely reported in the media who treat us like children.
-
You remind me of those people from the dark ages who would scoff at medical and technological advances that are now commonplace. The news only reports negative stories because that's what appeals to jaded pessimists who are looking for an easy way out to avoid making an effort.

A rose-tinted, Pollyanna propaganda piece, which ignores legitimate sources such as this:http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2017/world-hunger-report/en/ …

Funny how we live in the best of all possible times yet pessimistic perceptions persist. What a luxury. Most of us should be dead.

You're going to make me a lot less sarcastic and cynical at this rate. It's all the data's fault!

Like I told
@jordanbpeterson 1.This year, the WHO unveiled a new vaccine that’s cheap and effective enough to end cholera, one of humanity’s greatest ever killers (NYT)... Except for its largest modern outbreak/spread in Yemen ~ 500 000 ppl. And that was just number 1.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Steven pinker praises the alt-right. Libertarian kooks will often side with fascists in order to keep their market tyranny in place.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xJ5bvw6Ckw&t=3s …

¿La idea de que las cosas van mal son realidad o percepción? Con datos objetivos, Pinker siembra la sospecha.

I posted this on Facebook more than a day ago. Received 2 likes. I know it’s easier to Like a photo of my daughter than scroll though 99 best things, but just a sad response.

Sounds like most of your friends are more honest that Pinker's deluded Pollyanna acolytes - which is a compliment to you.
